Farewell to the Pressure, Kids

So, I took the blog down for a few weeks while trying to figure out if I wanted to continue with it. I haven't created a brush set in some time now. As you can see, the previous post was made just after the World Series. Even though I haven't been making brushes doesn't mean you haven't.

So, send me your brushes if you'd like them featured on the site. I'm really looking for unusual/offbeat yet functional brushes. Please send me a short write-up about them, and a link to where they can be downloaded, as well as your contact info and how you'd like to be credited. I'll check them out and see if they're what I'm looking for. My contact info is to the right.

All links to past brushes have been updated are still available for download.

In the meantime, kungfuquickness over at deviantart did a really badass set of postcards using the Darger-esque brushes. Check them out.

Back to work

Well, baseball season is over.

PHILLIES ARE THE WORLD CHAMPS!!!!

It's been a very exciting time here in the city this past month. It felt like everyone here had faith in them, but were doubtful they'd actually win. All curses have to come to an end at some point. (maybe next year, Cubbies)

So, now that the smoke has settled here, I'll finally be able to get to work on some new brush ideas, and hopefully have something to post in the next few days.

And those of you in the US, don't forget to vote on Tuesday!!!!

Blenfu.com

Blendfu.com contacted me the other day about posting my brushes on their site. All 4 volumes of the Dot Splatter brushes are now available there for downloading.

They have a ton of brush resources, as well as typographical resources. Check them out.

Darger-esque: Random Ephemera vols. 1 & 2

Here are 2 new brush sets I completed a few days ago. They were inspired by the work of Henry Darger. Volume 1 contains 23 brushes, volume 2 contains 22. The set features random "found" ephemera from 1950s-60s advertisements, magazine serials, children's books, and one Andy Warhol cat from 25 Cats Named Sam and 1 Blue Pussy.

And Then...

So, I've been pretty quiet submission-wise recently. That can be chalked up to a short bout with food poisoning, and the extreme demand at the 9-5. I was working at a pretty fast clip for a while, and now I'm trying to get back into the swing of it.

I've been scouring for sources for a new brush set, and I think I have an idea of what I want to do. Something along the lines of Henry Darger, random ephemera type thing. If you're not familiar with Darger, I recommend checking him out. He has a really fascinating/strange/sad story:

Henry Darger

There's also a really good documentary about him as well.

New Dot Splatter Brushes

Hi. So here are the last two volumes of my Dot Splatter brush series. These have been up for a few days on deviant art, but I'm finally getting around to posting them here. I had a lot of fun making these and hope you have fun using them.

These folks on deviant art recently used the Dot Splatter brushes in their work:

Fireworks Brushes

I seem to be hitting creative streaks very late at night, which is probably why I've been having trouble sleeping lately...

Here is a set made late tonight. 18 brushes of fireworks.

Also, some people on deviant art have used my dot splatter brushes in their work, which they were kind enough to send my way. Check them out...
